Neill Blomkamp (District 9, Elysium) is also in on the artificial intelligence trend that is coming back in 2015 with Chappie. Watch the second trailer for the film which features much more action and plot.

While the first trailer for Chappie focused more on the humanity that Chappie discovers with his creator Deon (Dev Patel) this second trailer is more focused on the conflict that arises when Hugh Jackman’s character Vincent wants to destroy Chappie.

The new trailer certainly does give us more of the plot of Blomkamp’s third film and sets up the story that will unfold in the film. Releasing a trailer that focuses on the feeling and ideas behind the film first and then releasing a more action and plot packed second has worked wonderfully in pulling in interest from people online. If this second trailer had been released first, I’m not sure that as much buzz would be around Chappie at this point.

I am happy to see the Dev Patel is getting more work because he was fantastic back in 2008 in Slumdog Millionaire  and then in Aaron Sorkin’s just wrapped-up Newsroom.

Chappie is one of my most anticipated films of 2015, but are you intrigued enough to go out to the theater March 6th?

This trailer actually sold me on the movie. I never really got what the movie was about until watching it in a Youtube Ad. Was probably the first time I was asked if I wanted to skip the ad where I went “no, I wanna watch this”. I’ll definitely be checking it out.
