The first episode of Marvel’s Agent Carter just wrapped on ABC.
It’s 1946, and peace has dealt Peggy Carter a serious blow as she finds herself marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad. Working for the covert SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve), Peggy must balance doing administrative work and going on secret missions for Howard Stark.

I enjoyed the show. I didn’t like the disconnect between the Agent Carter short and this, but I loved Peggy kicking ass and the Leviathan references.
Bradley Whitford was probably too busy for this, but I bet at the end of the series she’ll get reassigned to his office and it’ll feed into the one-shot.
So far production value is up to par, which is good news and I have to believe this series has an role to play in the big picture. I have high hopes we will see a big time costumed hero or villain from the golden age. Something wild like Namor or a Kirby creation at the end. Or any other secret Marvel bombshell. For now I enjoy Jarvis, and am looking forward to the unexpected. Which is rare these days!
I really enjoyed it. I love having a strong female lead; the plot is interesting; and I really like the look of the show. I think they’re doing a good job capturing a look evocative of the time period. An oh, man, that red hat! I totally need one of those!
I wasn’t sure what to expect from this show, and I really enjoyed it. I loved that Carter was essentially running a parallel operation, her co-workers oblivious. I liked the notion that she’s basically running a secret identity like a traditional super hero, without the costumed identity. This show has lots of potential, and the limited episode count will hopefully mean every episode moves the plot forward. Good stuff so far.
i really liked it. the action was surprisingly great, and you really feel for Peggy’s frustration in a horribly chauvinistic 1940’s America. i also really liked the subtle nod to the 60’s BBC Avengers show, with Peggy Carter as the John Steed protagonist, and Jarvis as Mrs. Peel, always alluding to his never-seen wife. without spoiling anything for the netflix crowd, the only goofy thing was they oversold the “Peggy crying” scene.
minor spoiler though: cannot wait for the Howling Commandos team-up.
and a fun fact, the dude who played Jarvis once played a WW2-era Ian Fleming, the guy who’d go on to create James Bond!
