So much Cassie Lang that I teared up.
I showed the trailer to my wife, she’s the barometer I use for a non nerd perspective.
Her: He rides a giant ant? That’s lame.
Me: Actually, he shrinks down and rides a regular sized ant.
Her: Super lame.
Me: But you said that when I told you Marvel was making a movie about a talking raccoon and tree guy.
Her: OK but I knew the movie would be good as soon as I saw the trailer. I’ve seen this Ant Man guy and I still think it’s lame.
I think maybe she has a point? After seeing the trailer, I didn’t have the desire to cryogenically freeze myself until opening weekend like I usually do after seeing a Marvel trailer.
I have no idea what you are talking about, a micro dude riding an ant is the coolest thing I’ve seen in a long time.
Honestly, I think there’s something to be said about MArvel taking all of these ridiculous ideas from he 60s and 70s and making them spctacular again by the magic of humor and CGI. It looks different from other marvel movies, but that last line was great! nd the characters give me a completely diferent vibe from the other movies.
To me, Ant-Man is about thinking outside the box to solve a problem (be smaller, not bigger)(… sorry, Torq), and if this sotory delivers that, it’s a win. So far, I like what I’ve seen.
I’m so happy with this trailer. I’ve heard a few people complain that it didn’t have the “heist” vibe that Marvel has been pushing for this film, but I’m not worried about that. This is a character piece, telling us who our main character is and why we should care about him. This trailer was all about his motivations, not about the plot and I think it worked perfectly. I imagine the next trailer will give us a taste of the heist aspect…or maybe not. I can see them just selling this movie on the character and letting people be pleasantly surprised in the theater. Kind of the opposite of what was done with Guardians where it was sold as a space adventure film and after the movie all I heard anyone talk about was the characters.
