It wouldn’t be much of a story if they found themselves embroiled in a mystery, surrounded by fluffy bunny rabbits. I have only one thing to say about the Lone Ranger: For Pete’s sake, isn’t it time they gave him a costume based on actual Western clothing worn in the 1800s instead of a 1950s faux singing cowboy costume?
My neighbor, who worked in heavy construction, and who has used dynamite informs me that all these scenes where somebody shoots dynamite to set it off are ridiculous. Dynamite doesn’t explode if you shoot it, it takes a detonator to set it off. Also, these scenes in just about every Western where they pitch sticks of dynamite around and they blow up building (or water towers) also are impossible. The force of the explosion would dissipate into the air and not destroy what it was resting against or upon, unless a heavy object was placed against it. That’s why, in mining, they drill a hole and put the dynamite in the hole, or if you’re blasting a stump you drill a hole and put the powder in the hole – so the force of the explosion goes into the rock or stump or whatever. Now had the Lone Ranger put the dynamite inside the tank, the force of the explosion would have gone into the water, and most likely ruptured the tank with the desired results but shooting the dynamite would not set if off. I’ll take my friend’s word for it. I’m not about to go around shooting at sticks of dynamite to find out if he is right or not. :P
