As a long-term fan of comic books, I’ve long been a proponent of the ‘combine two characters’ school of storytelling, especially when they’re an unlikely pair. Power Man and Iron Fist, Daniel Bryan and Kane, Black Canary and Oracle… All combinations of existing characters that make for more than the sum of their parts. Nowadays, since everything is owned by six mega-conglomerates anyway, crossover stories are much easier to pull off, and thanks to Disney’s massive intellectual property aegis, it would even be theoretically possible for Han Solo and Spider-Man to work together with a minimal amount of story effort. (Please note: I said “possible”, not “advisable.”) In my head, I’m actually assembling a Justice League of Walt Disney cartoons featuring Super-Goof, Darkwing Duck, Robin Hood, Vanellope Von Schweetz, Rafiki, Stitch and Panchito Pistoles, which leads us to today’s corporate-owned query…
The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) figures that Baloo The Bear acting as Obi-Wan to Hercules would also make for one hell of a story, asking: What two Walt Disney-owned characters would you team up for the ultimate buddy movie?
