With the return of the Star Wars properties to Marvel Comics, Stephen and I (and pretty much ONLY Stephen and I) have been awaiting the return of Jaxxon, the breakout star of the title for a brief moment back 1977. For my money, it’s a no-brainer, as Jaxxon (and the rest of the cast of Han’s first (you should excuse the expression) solo adventure, a ‘Magnificent Seven’ pastiche also featuring doddering Jedi Master Don-Wan Kihotay) are memorable and fun, which is more than you can say for Lord Xizor or that one angry dude from the cantina sequence. Indeed, the real question should be “When’s Jaxon’s solo title drop?”, but I’m willing to hold back my enthusiasm long enough to complete today’s intergalactic (planetary?) query…
The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) wants to remind all and sundry that Jaxxon and his cohorts are literally the first denizens of the Star Wars expanded universe, asking: Jaxxon – Yay Or Nay?

Nay. I only got time for one floppy-eared Star Wars character in my life, and that is Jar Jar Binks.
He deserves a solo title first, because he A. was in the actual movies and B. is a more interesting, well-developed character than Jaxxon.
(and Cornelius Evazan > Jaxxon, as well)
You shut your mouth with you “Expanded Universe” jackwagonry, sir. I will physically fight you! :)
Sure, who not. :)
The force is not strong with Jaxxon. I like seeing a wide variety of alien species in my Star Wars and Star Trek, but Jaxxon is pushing it.
I like his species, but I’m not that big a fan of the character himself.
Now, if they retcon him a bit and this is a new take on the character, I might be more willing to give him a chance. After all, they’ve made me change my mind in the past. I still hate Ewoks in general, but I rather liked the EU character Tarfang.

But overall, I don’t mind that he’s appearing. I like the idea that the Star Wars universe is vast and full of all kinds of different life forms, from serious or evil to humorous and cutesy.
And hey, he’s still better than Jar Jar.
Given a choice of green rabbitiod aliens I’d opt for a Bucky O’Hare revival.
