I was fortunate enough to get a LEGO Ideas Research Institute set from Major Spoilers scribe Chris Wilson. Many weren’t as lucky, and have been searching high and low for the sets. LEGO appears to have recognized the demand and may be preparing to unleash more sets.

For months now, the Shop@Home website has had a Sold Out sign hanging on the LEGO Ideas Research Institute (aka the female scientists set), but that wording has changed over the last couple of days.

LEGO® Ideas sets are fan created and limited production. We’re sorry it’s not available – it’s proven to be an overwhelmingly popular set. We’re investigating if we can make more. Check back soon!

At least the company is investigating making more, which I think is a good thing to do. Right now, you can only find this set at select LEGO stores, and at LEGO Land (where Chris Wilson picked up my set), but quantities are so limited that shoppers are limited to one set each, and those that can be found on eBay are selling for $68.00 and up – for a set that retails for $19.99.

Look for a Major Spoilers LEGO build of this set soon, and be on the lookout for the LEGO Ideas Research Institute on store shelves soon(?). If I were a betting man, I’d say mid-November, which is just in time for holiday shopping.
