People like to collect and pin their favorite things to virtual walls on the Internet, and it give their friends, family, and curious a chance to see what that person is into. For the geek set, using sites like Pinterest can be useful, but when it comes to collecting AND selling, the system leaves me a little flat. CompleteSet looks to offer a solution to those wanting to curate and sell their collections.
One can’t talk about CompleteSet without acknowledging it feels very much like Pinterest, as one collects topics of interest (Batman, Star Wars, LEGO), which is then added to the users collection board. From their users can see all the goodies, trinkets, collectibles, and bits of ephemera that like minded fans from around the world have collected themselves. Of course users can add their own items to show off how big of a collector they really are.
Interestingly, I could not find The Collector LEGO Minifig on the site.
When something isn’t there, CompleteSet encourages users to add and create their own collections to show off. And this is where the site sets itself apart from other pin-it type sites – If you see something you really want, you can “want it”, which is very much like Liking a post or item, but if you have something unique and you want to sell it, the site gives users the ability to do that as well.
The Sell aspect of CompleteSet is what appeals to someone like me as it narrows down search time, and connects me with people who may have a greater respect for the stuff they are selling, than one of the other online auction sites. There are just over 1,000 collectors on the site now, but I expect that number will grow as more fans add this to social networks.
The 1.0 version of CompleteSet is available now, and the company is planning a demo day on Monday, September 29th.

I might have to give this a shot. Might even be able to find someone willing to sell or trade a few of the figures/collectibles on my “Want but cannot find” list.
