Much speculation has been made – though all of us expected it from the first hints – Dwayne Johnson will play Black Adam in the upcoming Shazam! movie from Warner Bros.

Though we haven’t received an official press release from Warner Bros., the fact that the studio registered the following domain names this week is a pretty good indicator that things are moving forward quickly; AquamanMovie.com, JusticeLeagueFilm.com, ShazamMovie.com, and WonderWomanTheMovie.com.

Of course this tweet from Dwayne Johnson also makes it feel more definite.

Johnson spent the better part of the summer teasing fans on his Twitter site, to the point nearly everyone pegged the movie star as Black Adam long before any announcement.

According to Variety, Hiram Garcia is producing based on a Darren Lemke script. There is no word on start date for production, or a release date for the film, but now that the cat is out of the bag, expect a more official announcement any day now.

  1. The Rock will make a fine Black Adam but here’s the problem. The Rock does not have a mean bone in his body. He’s too nice, too charismatic to make his roles as a jerk or bad guy believable to me. It also paints the casting powers into a corner now becuase, who do you cast for Captain Marvel now? Who’s out there that even come close to the Rock as Black Adam?
