To the surprise of many, Guardians Of The Galaxy hit it big at the box office, ensuring that a new generation of kids will grow up knowing of the wonder that is Rocket Raccoon (and will likely be puzzled at that Beatles song that seems to be all about him.)  The success of the film is such that not only have they announced the sequel, but writer/director James Gunn has been making noises about adding to the GOTG roster in Part II.  Given that the various incarnations of the team, dating back to 1969, have had literally dozens of members (including a Yellowjacket, a Captain Marvel and the Ghost Rider of the far-flung future), this opens possibilities both wonderful and goofy, leading us to today’s space-faring query…

The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) has fingers crossed for a certain opponent of Thanos made famous by Jim Starlin, in his big red cape and blonde flippy ‘do, name rhymes with “Fladam Door-lock”, asking: What former Guardian would you most like to see joining the team in a Guardians Of The Galaxy sequel?

Once upon a time, there was a young nerd from the Midwest, who loved Matter-Eater Lad and the McKenzie Brothers... If pop culture were a maze, Matthew would be the Minotaur at its center. Were it a mall, he'd be the Food Court. Were it a parking lot, he’d be the distant Cart Corral where the weird kids gather to smoke, but that’s not important right now... Matthew enjoys body surfing (so long as the bodies are fresh), writing in the third person, and dark-eyed women. Amongst his weaponry are such diverse elements as: Fear! Surprise! Ruthless efficiency! An almost fanatical devotion to pop culture!

And a nice red uniform.

Vance Astro (complete with Captain America’s shield) and Adam Warlock would be pretty cool.

If they hadn’t ruined him in the first movie (my only real problem with it), I’d LOVE to see Yondu join up. Sadly, we have Deliverance-Yondu instead.

Quasar, preferably Wendell Vaughn. I think it would be cool to introduce him in the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D first though to keep with the comics.

I would love to see annihilation: conquest GOTG member bug. I think he would make this crazy rag tag group a little more crazy and add to the fun. Who doesn’t want a giant insect humanoid on their team?

    That’s loaded question.

Moondragon, Quasar (Wendell) or Adam Warlock

Gonna say Adam Warlock, although “He-Who-Knows” Starhawk always made a great plot device.

I would love to see Mantis and Bug. I think they would add to the movies nicely. Add more humor and fighty they would fit in nicely in my opinion.

As another commenter said Bug would add some more crazy but i think you need Mantis in there also, to be the reason why he joins them as well as she would just be an awesome member on screen also.

I agree with everybody, just keep rotating them between movies with a core cast remaining, Moondragon, Quasar, Adam Warlock, and Mantis and bug sound interesting… I migh be buying stock in green body paint producers before the next Guardians.

Bug and Mantis would be awesome and Warlock makes sense if avengers 3 is based on infinity gauntlet. I want to see the telepathic, astronaut, Russian dog Cosmo on the team.

Definitely NOT Vance Astro, and definitely not as Major Victory, much less with the shield. Enough is enough already.

Adam Warlock would be cool. Quasar (Wendell) would be even better. Richard Rider would be superb.

Phyla-Vell and Moondragon, about time we see a same sex relationship in a Marvel movie, plus they are cool characters and having a girl as the heavy (Quasar) would be nice. Plus the telepathy from Moon would be nice to set up some funny moments for Groot, were we see he is highly intellectual and comes out as rash and dumb just because we can’t understand him.

Of course if they have Cosmo use his powers and telepathically speak with a Russian accent, voiced by the guy that play Chekov in the new Star Trek movies, I would spend large amounts of money watching that over and over ; 0)
