Here’s a rundown of what took place during Legendary Pictures panel at the San Diego Comic Con! Godzilla 2, blackhat, Skull Island and Warcraft!
Jessica Chobot (@jessicaChobot) from Nerdist News moderated the panel.
Godzilla
A pre-recorded video of director Gareth Edwards thanking fans for supporting Godzilla was shown. He stated he needs to take a break before directing a sequel. That isn’t necessarily a confirmation or a denial that Godzilla 2 is in the works. For those keeping track at home, Gareth is also directing the first Star Wars spin-off movie, which may be why Godzilla is out of reach at the moment.
Legendary (@Legendary) tweeted that other Toho Co. monsters would appear in coming films. It looks like those monsters will be Mothra, Rhodan, and Ghidorah!

blackhat
Michael Mann made his first ever comic-con appearance to promote blackhat (formerly Cyber)
After a case of high-level computer hacking arises, American and Chinese military forces work together to stop it.
The movie stars Chris Hemsworth, Viola Davis, Hold McCallany, Tang Wei, and Leehom Wang.

Chris Hemsworth came on stage to say a few words about his character. The gov’ment needs his help to track down hackers. In exchange his character’s sentence is commuted. Crimson Peek Guillermo del Toro took to the stage to promote Crimson Peek. The movie will be R-rated, and incredibly violent.
Set in Cumbria, in a crumbling mansion in a largely rural and mountainous region of northern England in the 19th century. Young author Edith Cushing (Wasikowska) discovers that her charming new husband Sir Thomas Sharpe (Hiddleston) is not who he appears to be.
The movie stars Tom Hiddleston, so you know fans went wild. Crimson Peek arrives in October 2015. Warcraft Director Duncan Jones took the stage to address the fans. Asked how Jones could make the movie accessible to those unfamiliar with the Warcraft universe, Jones responded with, “it’s an origin story of how the conflict arose between the orcs and the humans.” There’s a lot of CGI in the flick, which is probably why we won’t get to see it until 2016. March of 2016 to be exact.
Warcraft footage just ran, underlining both sides of the conflict. Empathy for both humans and orcs. No definite bad guys or good guys. — Eric Vespe (@EricVespe) July 26, 2014
Skull Island
Legendary had a huge tease for Skull Island that arrives in theaters on November 4, 2016.
This is what Variety had to say about the picture a few hours ago:
While the film isn’t expected to be a sequel or reboot to the 2005 movie Peter Jackson directed for Universal, Legendary’s pic could feature the big ape. The island gets its name from an imposing skull-shaped rock.
And with that, the presentation was over.
