Marvel wrapped up the Avengers & X-Men AXIS panel, and here’s what we learned about the upcoming event.
- The company showed off Sam Wilson as the All-New Captain America… of course faithful Spoilerites saw that a week or so ago, right here, on this site.
- Ian Rogers will be the new Nomad. Who is Ian Rogers? You got me… thankfully there is a Marvel Wiki that points out that Ian is Steve’s adopted son from Dimension Z.
- Rick Remender and Jerome Opena are working on Avengers: Rage of Ultron graphic novel that will arrive in April 2015.
- If you want to know what issues to pick up that lead into the big AXIS event, you’ll need to pick up Captain America #24 and Uncanny Avengers #24.
- The AXIS event is split into three parts, Marvel promised they wouldn’t spoil the ending to Act 2, and cautioned fans to avoid “spoiler” sites. I’m going to spoil it right now – someone’s gonna die…
- Look for AXIS: Carnage, and AXIS: Hobgoblin – they were both mentioned during the October solicitations from the company.
- Look for any and every X-title to somehow tie into the event, and a number of other titles like Deadpool and Magneto getting in on the “fun”
- Oh, in case you had not heard what happened to Prof. X… Zola inserted his brain in to the Red Skull… spoiler alert.
- Looks like the male Thor will go by the name of Odinson going forward. Asked how that ties into AXIS, it was revealed that Odinson (not Thor) will be part of the event. If you’ve seen the pics of Odinson caring an axe instead of mew-mew that’s the story there.
- Havok and Cyclops are going to need to bond as brothers in this event.
- Elixer will be brought into the Marvel books soon according to Marvel editor, Mike Marts.
That’s what we know, and now you do, too, and knowing is half the battle.*
*G.I. JOE is currently published by IDW Publishing and that line should not confuse you into thinking the JOEs are coming to Marvel.
