The cast is really starting to take shape for Netflix Daredevil series. Matt Murdock, Wilson Fisk, whatever character Rosario Dawson is playing… and now we now who will play Foggy Nelson.

elden_henson_neighbors_premiere_pAccording to The Hollywood Reporter, Elden Henson has been cast as Franklin “Foggy” Nelson, Matt Murdock’s best friend and legal partner. What I like about this, and the other casting announcements that have been made, is that the studio is casting a bunch of well known names, but names that are more “Oh, that guy” kind of actors. It keeps the focus on the character they are playing instead of the actor in the suit.

One thing I am hoping we see is Foggy being the deep character seen in the comics (especially those written by Mark Waid), with occasional bits of comedic relief. Nothing against Jon Favreau, but his take on the character in the Daredevil movie was nothing but comedic relief and we never had a chance to see Nelson a fully developed character.

Netflix is committed to 13 episodes of Daredevil, followed by Jessica Jones, iron Fist, and Luke Cage series, which will then culminate in a Defenders series.  If Netflix handles this series with the same intensity and approach as it has with Orange is the New Black, and House of Cards, Daredevil could be the best adaptation of any Marvel property.
