Superhero blood ends up in the Black Market
Here’s an interesting concept – cure all disease by using the blood of superheroes. That’s the basic premise of Black Market by Frank J. Barbiere and Victor Santos that arrives in stores in July.
Ray Willis is a broken man, a disgraced medical examiner making ends meet by preparing corpses at a funeral parlor and trying to care of his ill wife. His scientific genius is being wasted…that is, until his estranged criminal brother Denny shows up on his doorstep, supposedly cleaned up and proposing a once-in-a-lifetime partnership to cure not just cancer, but all disease. The catch? It exists within the DNA of superheroes.
This is a interesting concept that I am interested in seeing play out, I mean… what can go wrong, right? Why wouldn’t supers want you to stick them with a needle and draw their bodily fluids to make other feel better? I can tell this is going to be dark and creepy.
“Frank and Victor are the perfect combination to tell this story of a decent man whose back is against the wall, and the cost it has on your soul to care for the ones you love,” said Matt Gagnon, BOOM! Studios Editor-in-Chief.
We don’t have to wait too long for the issue to arrive. Black Market #1 lands in your comic book store and in digital format on July 16, 2014.
