This week, things get cold and we don’t know who to trust! Luckily Young Zach has a flame thrower as we take on John Carpenter’s The Thing.
Horror-meister John Carpenter (Halloween, Escape from New York) teams Kurt Russell’s outstanding performance with incredible visuals to build this chilling version of the classic The Thing. In the winter of 1982, a twelve-man research team at a remote Antarctic research station discovers an alien buried in the snow for over 100,000 years. Once unfrozen, the form-changing alien wreaks havoc, creates terror and becomes one of them.

This is one of my favorite horror movies of all time, so it was great to hear an intelligent analysis of it.
I you like the aesthetics of horror, I recommend a manga called Hellsing by Kouta Hirano, or the animated version Hellsing Ultimate. There’s a lot in there that is simultaneously beautiful and horrifying. Also the way the main character shape shifts reminds me of The Thing
One of the greatest films – ever.
I have seen this like a hundred times. Funny thing, I also remember the ending with the dog :) And last time I saw it I was also like …. Was that ufo allways there.
Thank you for another great Sack on Film, this was one of the best.
More John Carpenter please.
And the manga Hellsing is also one of my guilty pleasures. Good job Nathan.
