With the new boom in superhero movies, we’ve entered a fascinating period in comic films, one in which yesterday’s Daredevil is today’s Batman, and the previous Human Torch has now become Captain America. It’s not uncommon to find such casting decisions in Hollywood (How many tough cops has Bruce Willis played since ‘Die Hard’?), and while it does raise certain issues (type-casting for one, homogenization of our theatre-going experiences for another) I choose to see it as another sign of the successful mainstreaming of nerdly concepts. Being the guy that I am, I might enjoy seeing Jason David Frank as The Phantom, with Billy Zane as The Shadow, and the hilarious prospect of Alec Baldwin leading the Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers. Of course, not everyone is quite as nerdy as me, but wouldn’t it be neat to see Toby Maguire playing Nightwing alongside Affleck’s Batman in the inevitable Justice League movie? Or Ryan Reynolds as a more age-appropriate Johnny Blaze? These ruminations, obscure as they may be, do beg an interesting query…
The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) has always said that Jack Nicholson’s Joker was a great Riddler, but also thinks that Val Kilmer’s Batman would have made an interesting Moon Knight, asking: Since Chris Evans got away with it, what superhero actor would you like to see playing a different superhero?

I think Ray Park would play a great Daredevil.
Although technically Vin Diesel is only voice acting for Groot, I think he’d make a pretty good Thanos, at least since Riddic…er….Drax is already taken.
I think Ben Afflek would make a swell Batman.
Robert Downey would make a _great_ Nick Fury.
I was thinking Liam Neeson would make do the old cigar smoking Nick Fury justice.
Fassbender (Young Magneto) Would make a great Batman I should think.
