There are those who complain that zombie-flavored stories are too prevalent, as if the use of the shuffling dead were in itself a genre, rather than props used to evoke a particular mood. For my part, I enjoyed the early installments of ‘Marvel Zombies’, especially the bits where undead Peter Parker laments having killed and eaten his family in the same tone he used to whine about working for J. Jonah Jameson, and have often thought that it would be interesting other hero-types in similar settings. How might Indiana Jones face a wave of revenants? Or George Costanza? Would Jack Skellington have an edge against a horde clamoring to eat flesh, or would become their leader and sic them on Wallace and Gromit?
The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) believes that Talking Heads had a great point when they said, “Stop Making Sense”, asking: What fictional character (who doesn’t already live in a zombie story) would survive longest after the zombie apocalypse?

This is a hard question since almost everything I like has a zombie story already in one form or another, from regular zombies to virus zombies to the super-powered Marvel Zombies or Black Lanterns. Even Star Wars had the accidental genetically engineered zombies in the “Death Troopers” novel, and Han and Chewie barely survived that (it was set before “A New Hope”, so they kinda had to survive).
I’m gonna go with Marvin Boggs from “RED”, played by John Malkovich. He’s already a paranoid conspiracy theorist with a secret hideout and survival provisions, not to mention he’s got aim better than Hawkeye or Green Arrow. He’s already insane, too, so he’d probably not bat an eye if a zombie apocalypse happened.
I gotta go with atomic robo or Jenkins as both have survived the vampire dimension after that a zombie apocalypse would be easy. Robo would have the edge as he’s a robot and on top of that a genius. Jenkins’s however is a bad@$$ and as long as it happens on Robo’s base he’ll have access to plenty of weaponry. I still give the edge to Robo as he doesn’t have any meaty bits.
Outside of the obvious comic book characters, I am hard pressed to think of someone that would survive other than Alisha’s suggestion. Though, it would be funny to see Daleks and Cybermen wandering yelling “Exterminate” and “Delete”, frying zombies.
I can’t think of any -one- character, but as there are various immortal type characters about, they might just survive. Atomic Robo, for an example, like Cody said.
Compile a list of all non-organic characters that do not require sustenance and then the least suicidal of them would be the longest survivor.
Whoever happens to be piloting mecha godzilla gets my vote.
I’d go with Burt Gummer from the Tremors franchise. Survivalist gun-nut with years of fighting B-movie monsters under his belt. Though if we’re talking about a universe with zombies and graboids (and, dare I say it…? Zombie-graboids) he might have a rough time of it.
