When I was a child, things were different. Don’t worry, I’m not going to go off on a tangent of faux-stalgia, asking you to like if you remember the .45 RPM adaptors or whining about the “kids today”, like a dejected Baby Boomer learning how to Facebook. But as Stephen will tell you, there once was a time when it was your solemn duty as a kid to wake up on Saturdays and eat a big ol’ bowl of Choco-Frosted Sugar Bombs while watching cartoons. (*I* had a choice of raisin bran, Grape-Nuts or generic flakes of corn, a testament to my Grandmother’s ability to pinch pennies until you could literally hear Honest Abe screaming, a must with a houseful of rotten kids running hither and yon.) Once I struck out on my own, I took every opportunity to buy all the Cookie Crisp, Coco Puffs and Frankenberry I wanted, as if somehow anticipating today’s joyless world where one can only buy Boo Berry at Halloween. Today’s grocery visit included the full spectrum of seasonal Monster cereals, including the long-absentee Frute Brute, as my personal pancreas-shocking bulwark against creeping seasonal affective disorder. This, in turn, begs a query…
The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) is always after yer Lucky Charms, asking: Who’s the best cereal mascot of all time?

I’m going to have to go with Captain Crunch, mainly because of the absolute masterpiece that is this commercial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4KonG0s1RVQ
Crunch Crew 4 Lyfe
I will always be partial to the Freakies…
My (almost) namesake, and my childhood nickname springs to mind.
Tony the Tiger, of Kelloggs Frosties fame.
He is grrrrrrrreat!
C3PO, of course
Sugar Bear was always pretty cool, especially when he went Hulk.
Definitely Count Chocula.
Krusty the Clown. Oh wait, that is just on Simpsons.

This is a tough one. I am going to say that my favorite cereal mascot is the trio of Snap, Crackle and Pop. They had pretty good commercials in the late 90s and early 00s. Mainly my favorite part is that back in high school when the phrase “Aw snap” was still being used a decent amount, my friends and I played a game where when someone said “Aw snap” my friends and I would finish it with one person saying “Aw Crackle” and the last person saying “Aw Pop” we got a few looks, but it was good times.
