As often happens, I have recently been reintroduced to things I love in my youth thanks to my child, specifically old-school cartoons that she keeps digging up on the Youtubes. Widget found great enjoyment in the “Car/House/Farm Of Tomorrow” pictures of Tex Avery, as well as giggling madly at a selection of Droopy’s greatest hits. She even enjoyed the mostly-dated 40’s post-war humor of ‘Little Johnny Jet,’ a film I remember liking as well (although it was already pretty dated in the 70s.) She doesn’t care for my fave-rave, Woody Woodpecker, due to sub-par animation, but finds great amusement in the slack-jawed yokel wolf from ‘Billy Boy’, and gets a kick out of singing terribly like Huckleberry Hound. It’s nice to see her enjoying the same things I liked as a kid, even if we don’t always agree on their quality, which in turn begs a query…
The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) finds balance in the realization that BOTH of us only know ‘Barber Of Seville’ from repeated references in Woody Woodpecker and Bugs Bunny cartoons, asking: What’s the best single cartoon/cartoon episode of all time?

I’ll probably get some heat for this, but “The Dover Boys, Or The Rivals of Roquefort Hall” is my personal favorite cartoon of all time. It’s beautifully designed, the music is great, it’s hilarious, there isn’t a single bit of lag or a joke that falls flat. It’s the platonic ideal of a cartoon.
For Short Subject: I’m going to give it to “What’s Opera, Doc?” Like most people of my age, it’s what introduced me to Opera (and more specifically, Wagner). Plus, Elmer Fudd sings “”Oh Bwoomhilda, Youw so wovwey!”
For 30 Minute Episode: “The Greatest Story Never Told” episode of Justice League Unlimited. That episode really sums up not only the Justice League Unlimited as a concept, but Booster Gold (in any medium) as a character.
For Full Length Feature: I’ll probably have to go with Disney’s “Sleepy Beauty.” That movie is downright beautiful to watch.
My favourite is the Justice Lords episode of the Justice League Animated series. That and the Tales from Bah-Sing-Se from Avatar: The Last Airbender
Best cartoon ever: Rabbit Seasonong.
Bugs Bunny: Would you like to shoot me now or wait till you get home?
Daffy Duck: Shoot him now! Shoot him now!
Bugs Bunny: You keep outta this! He doesn’t have to shoot you now!
Daffy Duck: He does so have to shoot me now!
Daffy Duck [to Elmer Fudd]: I demand that you shoot me now!
[Elmer shoots him.]
SPEAR AND MAGIC HELMEEEETTTTTTTTTT!
I think my favourite all-time episode would have to be ¡Viva los Muertos! from season 2 of the Venture Bros. The one with Venturestein, who makes an awesome re-appearance in this last season. The awesome satirical take on Scooby and the Gang, and Dr. Orpheus being amazing w/ Brock and the creepy old shaman. And to top it off with the line, “I think they’re in some kind of…. Saw your own clone coma.”
It is a microcosm of everything that makes me love that series, and that series is my favourite cartoon of all-time.
Rabbit of Seville is the most hilarious cartoon I’ve ever seen.
In terms of episodes, the three part “Ultimate Doom” from the G1 Transformers and quirky “The Girl Who Loved Powerglide” are great.
Besides Rabbit Seasoning already mentioned, I love Woody Woodpecker in Niagra Fools.
Hooray!!!
Hillbilly Hare for a short. For an episodic show, Superman the Animated Series: Father’s Day with Pa Kent, Kalibak, Desaid and Darkseid.
For short, the “Silly Symphonies” short, “The Skeleton Dance” from 1929.
For episode of an animated series, the JLU 2-parter “The Once and Future Thing”.
For animated movie, “Spirited Away”.
For Short: Duck-A-Muck
For episode of animated series:
-Comedy: Simpson’s Homer’s Enemy
-Action: JLU’s Question Authority
-3rd choice: Venture Bros’ Orb
Feature Length: South Park: Bigger Longer & Uncut
:The Great Piggy Bank Robbery.”
“Hello my baby, hello my honey, hello my ragtime gal, send me a kiss by wire, baby my heart’s on fire”
The singing frog from looney tunes – that poor, poor greedy man who collects that horrible, horrible frog.
Funniest short animation ever :)
“Amazon Women in the Mood” from Futurama. From Shatner-esqe karaoke, cracks about women’s basketball and comedy, to one of the most hilarious phrases ever uttered from Bea Arthur’s mouth, “DEATH…BY SNU-SNU!!”
