Bill Doran is a cosplayer. He’s also a friend of Major Spoilers. Over the last couple of weeks there has been a lot of negative talk about those who cosplay and what they should and should not look like, do, be, and so on.

I like Bill’s response to those who wonder who should cosplay.

  1. I like his response. The way I see it, cosplay is like quoting from your favorite movie. Some just quote the words. Others quote the words and the style/emotion used in the original. Others still do impersonations that closely match the words, style, and sound of the original. All of them are celebrations of the original. If you’re into impersonations, don’t knock the guy who’s just quoting the words and occasionally getting them wrong.
