King Oblivion, Ph.D., founder and overlord of the International Society of Supervillains, takes us through the fine points of destroying the hopes and dreams of superheroes with his new book The Supervillain Field Manual: How to Conquer (Super) Friends and Incinerate People (Skyhorse Publishing, July 2013). Oblivion first guided us through the sinister steps of becoming a supervillain in The Supervillain Handbook—but with great power comes great responsibility, and there’s so much more to learn.
With so many cape-wearing do-gooders out there (they’re gathering at Comic Con in October!), now is the time to take off your henchman training wheels and slip on your supervillain tights (green and purple spandex preferred).
You’ll soon be on your way to renting the slickest underground lair in town, because The Supervillain Field Manual is complete with strategies every aspiring overlord needs. You will learn how to handle unruly hostages, control your minions, dissolve alliances, and much more!
It’s time to emerge from your clandestine lair with bad intentions and a malevolent laugh. So keep honing your rage, fine-tuning your lasers, and remember . . . keep your enemies close, and your Super Friends closer.
About the Authors
King Oblivion, Ph.D., has a doctorate in the Nefarious Sciences from Ocean Trench Fortress University. He is also monarch of the tiny Eastern European nation of Explosia, a title he won in a month-long Rochambeau tournament nearly half a century ago. In his spare time, he enjoys macrame and telling his various minions to avoid referring to him as “Dr. King.” When he isn’t running things at the ISS’s giant lair in the Earth’s mantle, he likes to spend his time in Sarasota, Florida.
Matt D. Wilson has written humor for websites including McSweeneys.net, Cracked.com, NationalLampoon.com, and ToplessRobot.com. He runs the International Society of Supervillains website at the-iss.com. He’s also one of the bureau chiefs that run the FakeAPStylebook Twitter account and cowrote the accompanying book, Write More Good, as well as the acclaimed manual on evil, The Supervillain Handbook. When he’s not thinking about villainy, he spends him time as a reporter in Chicago, Illinois.
