Outlier has acquired feature film rights to the DangerKatt comic series “Prophet,” an apocalyptic crime thriller from author Daniel Corey, whose acclaimed “Moriarty” was published by Image Comics.
“Prophet” follows a killer-for-hire afflicted with supernatural visions who realizes his destiny is to use his special skills to wage war against demons and drug lords. Set in present-day Mexico, Prophet must learn to accept his fate: that he is the latest in a long line of visionary warriors.
Outlier is a Los Angeles-based production company founded by “Twilight” producer Mark Morgan and E. Thompson (“Rites of Spring”). The duo have teamed up with producer James Cotten (“Hansel and Gretel Get Baked”) to produce the “Prophet” movie.
Corey is a screenwriter, playwright and novelist who has written and produced 10 plays. He created DangerKatt Creative Studio, which launched his digital novel “Elizabeth Kilbride” in 2009. Subsequently, Corey released the graphic novel “Prophet,” with art by Anthony Diecidue.
Outlier’s partners have a track record of identifying and producing some of Hollywood’s most commercial fare; Morgan and Thompson’s films include “The Wedding Planner,” “Agent Cody Banks,” and “The Stepfather” remake, as well as the “Percy Jackson” series and “The Twilight Saga.”
