We covered this in our podcast that went up today, but I really liked the movie. I felt like some of the visuals and directing was distracting, but overall this is a pretty good action movie. I haven’t read the book, but I’d recommend it to most people I know.
The zombies sounding like velociraptors from Jurassic Park was something I noticed though.
The book was wonderful and I highly reccomend it. Would have been impossible to film which is why this movie is nothing like it. I just wish they’d given it a different title. That way if someone ever put th book into a tv series (mini series would be awesome) it would be there for it.
Frankly, I think one man’s ‘impossible’ is another man’s ‘ground-breaking.’
The film could have been done exactly like the book, with a guy with a video recorder sitting down and interviewing survivors. Throw in grainy, filtered flashbacks of their ‘memories’ for the action portion and to cover broad expository sequences in a shorter amount of time than simply having someone tell a story.
Do that, and you would have had movie that was true to the book and could have actually been an excellent film (with zombies in it) rather than just another action movie (with zombies in it).
