Press Release
On Saturday, June 29, the Annapolis Comic-Con returns to the Pip Moyer Community Center in Annapolis. The event, sponsored by Third Eye Comics, takes place from 10am to 6pm.
Joining the array of vendors and artists this year will be Daniel Thomas May and Travis Love, two actors from Season 3 of AMC’s The Walking Dead. They will be signing autographs, taking photos, and might even dish some inside info about filming the hit TV show.
Events during the day include prize drawings, a costume contest, and a course on Surviving the Zombie Apocalypse with local expert Daniel Palmer. He says it will be a more advanced course than the one he taught in 2012, adding “Assuming you’ve survived the zombies for a few months, you’ll have to start dealing with a world that lacks civilization, where the living may become more dangerous than the undead!”
Staying true to their roots as a family-friendly comic-con, the Annapolis Comic-Con will have art stations open all day for kids to draw and color, a kids’ costume contest, and an interactive art game show, Doodle! Scribble! Draw! “It’s a combination of Jeopardy!, Whose Line Is It Anyway?, Pictionary, and the doodles that you draw in your notebook when you’re bored!” says host Mark Mariano, who draws his own comic books, and also worked on the Adventure Time comic book.
This will also be the debut of the first-ever Kids’ Artist Alley, with local children selling their own artwork, and trading comics and toys. It’s intended to teach them about the value of their artwork, the value of hard work, and maybe even how to count change!
