Over the current generation of consoles, I would say that one of the games well towards the top of my favorites would be Mirror’s Edge. Rumors of a sequel started circling almost immediately upon the initial release and here we are, six years later, finally seeing EA and DICE release a trailer for Mirror’s Edge 2. Take the jump to watch.

So, we can get a couple things from that trailer. Firstly, combat seems to have been enhanced quite a bit with, at the very least, some more variety in animation. Second, Mirror’s Edge 2 seems to be a prequel instead of a sequel. To that I have to say, who cares? The story in the first one, while being reasonable, was not why you played the game. The reason you played was for pretty environments and, more importantly, the fun, free-flow, first-person platforming parkour.
Now, though I am ridiculously excited to see this, I have the disappointment that a release date is still to be determined. EA and DICE say it will be released for the next gen consoles PS4 and X-Box One as well as for PC “when it’s ready.” Still, any new news is welcome.
