Seek shelter and cover head. Do not taunt the Robot Overlord.
My first thoughts are these: Do we really need yet another Zombie comic? If the author has something new and different to say, perhaps. My second thoughts are these: It seems like they’re trying a little to hard to be cool and hip. Like, really. The world’s been overrun by zombies, everyday life is a struggle to survive, and there’s really going to be top 40s radio and people are really going to be raving about their favorite rocks groups? If you’ve ever been in survival mode, you’d know that’s not going to be happen. You’re more concerned with food and shelter than with pop culture at that point. Final thought: Is the kid with the radio on the final preview page supposed to be the same freckled kid in the other pages, because, dude, if it is, the artist need to stay on model a little better. Of course, it’s hard to tell from the previews just how good the final book is going to be, so I will reserve judgement until I can see the final book. Sometimes a fantastic story can hold my attention even if the art might not stay on model, and sometimes fantastic art can make up for a less than stellar story – for example, just about anything by Howard Chaykin.
This comic is based off of an album by My Chemical Romance called “Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys”. It takes place in post-apocalyptic California. The original “Killjoys” were a group of rebels against a corporation known as Better Living Industries (BL/ind) which seems to be controlling the population. The original Killjoys sought to protect “The Girl”, who seems to be the main character in this comic. They eventually died rescuing her. This comic seems to take place a few years after that.
