When Marvel released the first teaser image for its Marvel First campaign, it had a lot of people scratching their heads and wondering what was up. During the Emerald City Comicon, Marvel writers and editors were plagued with questions about the event, but no one would give up the goods. Today, Marvel sent out another teaser, that may tip its hand to something big.
The Marvel: House of Ideas panel will take place at the SXSW Gaming Expo on Sunday, March 10, 2013 at 1:00 PM. Marvel was the first comic book publisher to release digital comics through its Marvel DCU initiative in 2007, and in 2012 it was the first publisher to attend SXSW where it announced the Marvel Infinite Comics and Marvel AR initiatives.
“We’re excited to return to SXSW as we take the Marvel ReEvolution to the next level with a quintet of announcements this year, leading us into the future of digital publishing,” said Dan Buckley, Publisher & President of the Print, Animation & Digital Divisions, Marvel Worldwide, Inc. “We’re big believers that we can combine the best of print and digital media to bring fans the ultimate comic book experience—that’s the heart of the Marvel ReEvolution. And if you’re at SXSW Interactive this year, you’ll be the first to find out just how Marvel’s changing everything you thought you knew possible about comics, forever.”
With five announcements coming from the company, speculation can run wild for the next week. Off the top of my head, possible announcements could include; digital release of titles before print release, evolution versions of comics that not only includes the final digital version, but pencils and ink versions as well for readers to see the (re)evolution of the comic process.
