In the original interview with Romero last October he mentioned this would not be in mainstream Marvel continuity (so no known super heroes) and not have to do with the existing Marvel Zombies comics.
So unless that changed since he first teased about it we’ll be seeing something new and Romeroish.
Night of the Living Marvels? We went through all this during the explosion of the independent comic publishers in the 80s. In response to all the great comics being produced by the independents, the big two resorted to sales tricks such as 52 alternate foil stamped covers and worthless event series like the Death of Superman or the Nightfall saga (or killing off Professor X for the umpteenth time). It didn’t work then and it won’t work now. Color me unimpressed. How the big three publishers can continue to fail to hit it out of the ballpark when, today, they have some of the best writers and artists in history working for them (except, of course, for Grant Morrison and Rob Liefeldt) is the true mystery. If you ask me, if the publishers want to sell more comic books, then they need to get the comic books out in circulation where people can buy them. And by this, I mean in places like Wal-Mart, grocery store chains, drug stores and news stands, like they did in the old days before the rise of the specialty comic book store. The current marketing model is only preaching to the converted, and that never garners you new members.
