If you want a little something more from your Marvel Premiere Hardcover Collections, Marvel has announced it will include codes for fans to download digital bonus content for no extra cost.

Customers can redeem the codes on Marvel.com, and then the free digital collection will appear in the My Comics section on both the Marvel Comics app (for iPhone®, iPad®, iPad Touch® & Android devices) and online in the Marvel Digital Comics Shop, so fans can read their favorite Marvel NOW! stories anytime, anywhere! This unprecedented initiative begins with All-New X-Men Vol.1: Yesterday’s X-Men Premiere HC, on-sale in March.

This is a great idea to get those who are sitting on the fence between traditional comics and the digital format, to at least sample the wares, and as an added incentive for digital only fans to pick up a a physical copy of the series.

“Marvel’s committed to not only bringing fans the best comics with Marvel NOW! but to also bringing the best value, which is why we’re the first publisher to include free digital copies with the first volumes of our top hardcover collections on this scale,” said David Gabriel, SVP of Sales, Publishing & Digital Media, Marvel Entertainment. “We’ve seen an overwhelmingly positive response from retailers and fans to the digital codes included—at no cost—in many of our monthly comics and select graphic novels. The universal support and praise for this initiatives makes it clear that including these codes with our books drives customers into comic stores on a repeated basis.”

According to Marvel, the following Marvel Premiere Hardcover collections will include codes in 2013:

  • ALL-NEW X-MEN VOL. 1: YESTERDAY’S X-MEN PREMIERE HC

Cant complain, more stuff with same money. In my opinion, this whole digital thing is best that has happened to comic industry in long time. Being all the way up here in finland, only way i can keep up with american comics is digital, so without comixology and ipad i would be getting only trades now and then.

I´d go as far as to say that digital made me a comic book reader again after over ten years, because now i can follow whats happening same day as you guys do and it really helps to keep me interested in the long run. (Superhero comics are close to nonexistent here at the moment, if not counting very few and expensive specialist stores.)
I also think that im not the only one in the same kind of situation, so i very much believe that digital is also helping overall comic sales.

You know you have something to say, say it in the comment section
