Major Spoilers Poll of the Week
As often happens with the start of a new year, people begin to make goals on what they would like to accomplish in the next 365 days. Goals of course need to be S.M.A.R.T.:
This is the mantra for every self-help guru from Tony Robbins down to your fifth period sociology instructor. It’s surprising that when someone has a goal, believes in it, and works toward it each day, the goal is usually accomplished. Which brings us to this week’s Major Spoilers Poll of the Week.

Discussion:
The bestselling saga that defined one of the Marvel Universe’s most unique characters! Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon deliver a wild ride of innovative chaos, reinstating the Punisher as an unstoppable force dispensing his vigilante justice on the streets of New York City. But not everyone is happy to see him return: Two unlucky cops draw the unenviable task of capturing him, while the ruthless Ma Gnucci and her gang will stop at nothing to see him dead. The Punisher also must contend with nosy neighbors and the rise of three copycats – the Holy, Elite, and Mr. Payback – who want him to join their crime-cleansing force. Collecting Punisher (2000) #1-12.

Stephen, you can’t really make fun of Matthew for giving a review six stars, you did it for Robin #183 :)
JJ Abrams and Joss Whedon don’t have to do every single space/sci-fi/action movie right now, just as Chris Nolan and….Joss Whedon…..don’t have to be involved with every single superhero movie. there’s plenty of great directors out there who could bring something cool to the table.
I’d personally like to see Neil Blomkamp (the dude who directed District 9) try his hand at a Star Wars movie. Kevin Smith might WRITE a really cool Star Wars movie, but direct? ehhh. i think even by his own admission, he isn’t they best director out there. maybe Bryan Singer could do a good job with the Star Wars films, since i’d like to think he did a pretty good job with his two X-Men films, and imo X2 improved vastly on the first one.
i do like Stephen’s idea of possibly bringing in some hong kong action directors to help out with the films (Yuen Wo-Ping or Ching Siu-Tung choreographing a lightsaber/force push fight would be pretty awesome), i dunno how effective they’d be in directing the whole thing, with the language barrier often diluting transplanted HK directors who’ve done american films (think of John Woo’s american movies vs. his HK movies). Andrew Lau could possibly do a great Star Wars flick (Stephen, check out The Storm Riders and/or A Man Called Hero for two great takes on HK comic adaptations)….maybe a Korean director like Park Chan-Wook (the dude who directed Old Boy, Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance and Sympathy for Lady Vengeance) could do something cool as well.
ahhh, caffeine and joblessness….both great ingredients for a nerd tirade.
