Adventure Time, the Cartoon Network show that many attribute with bringing the fun back to the medium, makes its way to the pages of comics. Being a fan of the show as a whole, though a few episodes have put me off, I was more than excited to jump into this comic. Does it hold up? Find out with your Major Spoilers review!

AN ADVENTURE FOR THE READER
One thing that makes this issue of Adventure Time especially unique, is that it is a “choose your own adventure” issue. Most comics that I have come across that try to do a “choose your own adventure” feel, ultimately, hollow and gimmicky. Adventure Time manages to semi-organically fit the gimmick into its narrative. The villainous Ice King casts a spell on Finn and Jake, attempting to take away their free will. The only problem is that Gunther, the penguin who was going to gain control of the duo, was MIA. As a result, the reader gains control over the actions of the heroes, effectively becoming a “choose your own adventure” comic. The end result of this is absolutely hilarious, with the exception of a fart gag that I personally did not enjoy. Other than that, the rest of it was the whacky Adventure Time style humor I loved.
LIGHT AND SIMPLE
The overall style of the comic is part and parcel of Adventure Time. It looks fun, light hearted, silly, and appealingly simplistic. One thing that set the show apart, though, would be the very interesting and creative backgrounds, an element that the comic lacks, taking away from the overall “adventure” feeling that the show instills so well. This does not hinder the comic a great deal, but it did give me an off feeling I could not pin point until a second reading.
BOTTOM LINE: GO ON AN ADVENTURE
Weather you are a long time fan, or have always wanted to try Adventure Time, this comic is accessible and greatly enjoyable. However, if you are not a fan already, be prepared for some whacky plot and whacky humor. But, in the end, Adventure Time #10 does exactly what it tries to do; be a light hearted, funny, and fun comic book. Pick it up for yourself, sit down, and go on an adventure.
