Honestly, I didn’t even know anyone was thinking of having JJ Abrams direct the next Star Wars movie, simply because he’s all over Star Trek right now.  For those who were holding out hope the producer/director would have his hands on Episode VII of Star Wars, Abrams has clarified in Empire magazine that he is not going to direct the movie… mainly because he is all over Star Trek right now.  Huh, go figure…

Perhaps I was asleep when I thought Lucas (who doesn’t won the franchise anymore) said he wasn’t doing another sequal/prequal(?!??).

Lucas isn’t doing another sequel, Disney is doing three more. Disney owns the rights to the franchise and they see the money to be made and are going through with a few more films.
