Recent announcements have indicated that the proposed ‘Star Wars Episode VII: Luke Needs A Sky Walker’ (alternate title: ‘The Empire Makes Han Throw Out His Back’) already has a writer attached to it, making it clear that the third trilogy is more than just a pipe-dream.  Rumors abound about the film (Darth Vader resurrected!  Harrison Ford seemingly onboard!  Zack Snyder, Guillermo Del Toro and JJ Abrams to be fused into one cyborg body to become the ultimate director!) but I think most of us have one real question:  Will our favorite characters be in the movie?  It seems that Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and the bearskin rug that played Chewbacca might be interested, but what about my fave-rave, IG-88?  Or Lando’s co-pilot whose face looks like giblets?  And what about Admiral whatsisface?

The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) finds your lack of faith disturbing, asking:
What Star Wars character are you most hoping is part of the new trilogy?

REVIEW: Fantastic Four #1

I actually am looking forward to new characters.

I’m assuming this trilogy is going to be “the reconstruction of the Republic,” “the rebirth of the Jedi Academy,” and “the redemption of the Skywalker name.” With that in mind, I’m looking forward to seeing Luke on screen again, this time in the role of mentor/Jedi Master.

I want to meet the new characters, the new heroes and villains that will take the Star Wars universe into the future.

Gotta be Lumpy. I’m really hoping they get RTD on board and stretch out the new series by focussing on the characters home life. (Han’s gotta have a mum out there)

*snicker* Ackmena from the SW Christmas Special.

    Mara Jade and Wedge.
Though not characters, the 501st and 181st Imperial Fighter Wing.

Wedge and the rest of rogue squadron would be great. Not fussed about any of the main old characters being in main roles, and if anyone ressurects Vader I’ll die ny facepalm.
I’m sure whatever happens though a nerdrage outcry will accompany it.

    Salacious Crumb!

But in all seriousness, i would like to see the trio from the original trilogy (Han, Luke, and Leia) perhaps in ‘lesser’ roles, in truth i would really like to see where Disney takes us with new characters, and as said above, redemption of the Skywalker name or rebirth of the Jedi academy would be really awesome to see.

The rancor handler. He’s due some payback.

I’d like to see some HK-47 action…He would be a good counterpoint to R2 and 3PO.

Anybody other than Jar Jar Binks. I think they should have an all new cast because if they are planning another trilogy, by the time they get to the third one, any of the original cast members will be too only and may (God forbid) be pushing up daisies by then, unless they do a Peter Jackson and film all three at the same time … hint, hint!

The droids of course. They and specifically R2D2 were our point of view characters for both trilogies and should continue that role.

An a 62 year old Luke would make a pretty good Obi-Wan teacher character.

While not needed for an awesome movie, I’d love to finally see some proper live action Force Witches (not including the retcon of the lady from the old Ewoks TV movie).

But honestly, as long as it has R2 and 3P0 (because I’m quite fond of the idea Lucas once pitched that the whole story of the movies is being told by them) and doesn’t make the EU and other stuff obsolete then I’ll be quite happy with whatever characters they throw at us.

Boba Fett, Boba Fett and Boba Fett, it’s time to be official bring Fett back and I’m sold with Disney, the new trilogy and everything. Do this for me Disney and I’m your man.

Boba Fett in more than just a bit part. He needs to have some kind of awesome bounty hunting, rocket pack firing, grapple gun shooting, thermal detonator throwing brawl. As for Harrison Ford returning, have we learned nothing from Indy 4? In the immortal words of Admiral Ackbar, “ITS A TRAP!”

I would like to see the Noghri and have them call Leia “Lady Vader” as they did in Heir to the Empire. While I would not use that story, that race can be used elsewhere as it is written.

Jar Jar (or his son) and an Ewok and Sith Lord and apprentice out to get revenge because they’ve been treated so badly over the years.

    The Return of Porkins.

I’d kind of like to see what the hell happened to Ahsoka and why she’s not in Anakin’s life anymore.

I kind of want to see the original leads back in a movie that throws out all established post-RotJ canon… Namely because I want to see the Extended Universe fanbase turn into a nerdpocalyptic explosion of rage.

Vader, but only as Force-ghost Anakin.

Wait, would that require Hayden Christensen? If so, screw that.

Admiral Gilad Pellaeon. Generally, I’d like the see them do a humanizing take on the Empire, as seen in the books.

Lowbaca, Chewie’s son. I hope that the folks at Disney remember that Episode 7 is not exactly virgin territory, There has been a future generation of Jedi written in allready. The spawn of all our favourites from episodes 5, 6, and 7. Including the grandson of Darth Cidious, ooh! It would be cool to him in the movie.

Lowbacca is his nephew, Lumpawaroo (“Lumpy”) is his son.
