Marvel has announced the full title for the Frank Cho Savage teaser that appeared on the Intardwebz last week, and it turns out it is Wolverine in the Savage Land – or SAVAGE WOLVERINE!
Wolverine awakes to find himself transported to the Savage Land and labeled public enemy number one! With no memory of how he got there, and Shanna the She-Devil his only ally, Logan must unravel the mystery that slumbers at the heart of the Savage Land before it finds a way to kill him first. This January, Wolverine is all brawls, babes, and brachiosaurs, and you’ll never see the end — or the future of the Marvel Universe — NOW!
Frank Cho can really draw some flora and fauna, and putting Logan in the Savage Land means there will be plenty of things to hack and slash.
“The story takes place in the forbidden area of the Savage Land where an evil ancient god slumbers. Wolverine and others accidentally unleash it, while trying to get back home.” explained Cho in an interview with Marvel.com. “This isn’t just a solo Wolverine story. It’s actually a team-up story with Shanna the She-Devil. Both Wolverine and Shanna have similar assertive personalities. The story is not just a quest to get home, it’s a story about surviving each other’s company and the Savage Land…it gets pretty bloody and savage… in a good way”
Savage Wolverine #1 arrives in January 2013.

Is it just me or do half the new Marvel NOW titles seem like they are just going to be mini-series? (Or should just be mini-series?)
Wait – you mean the Wolverine I’ve been reading for the last 30 years has been The Gentle Wolverine?
Like Zombi kinda said: This sounds like it’d be a good mini-series. But an open-ended ongoing (until next year’s LET’S SHUFFLE EVERYTHING! event)?
Agree with everyone here. Seems like a mini-series. I am ok with that though. I would not mind at all if all the books they are announcing are that way. Give some people time to tell a good story then start all over.
What the #?*1 is he wearing on his feet, lace-up ducks?
