We’ve intentionally not talked about the theater shootings in Aurora, Colorado for a number of reason, but mainly because there has been nothing positive to come from the “news” and speculation/pundits outlets to provide anything of real meaning. However, when someone does something positive, not for their own image, but to make those suffering feel better, it does deserve some attention.
That’s why we are giving Christian Bale the Major Spoilers Hero Award. Mr. Bale took it upon himself to visit the hospital where survivors of the shooting are recovering. According to reports, the actor spent time with each of the patients, and also spent time with those that were the first responders to the crime scene. According to Warner Bros., “Mr. Bale is there as himself, not representing Warner Brothers.”
Regardless of what you think of the actor or the movie, it is Christian Bale’s actions that speak volumes. This is yet another example of someone who didn’t have to do anything, but did it for the right reason.

Yeah, and he didn’t ask for any press to be there or anything of the sort. The only reason these pictures are put out are because these are by the people he visited taken with a cell phone and put on facebook. That just makes it even better IMO
Agreed. The fact that it wasn’t publicized until after the fact seems to help cement that he really wanted to be there for the people and not for publicity or anything.
What Allen said. Good for Bale.
Kudos to him. I am sure the victims really enjoyed having a visit from him.
Well done and in the correct way. A pox on the media and their endless speculations and feeding frenzy which has done nothing but spawn more paranoia, fear and “urban legends”. Unfortunately the lowest common denominators of the idiotnet have used it to spread even more junk and misinformation. The MS site has been wise to exercise discretion and respect in addressing the tragedy and you folks are to be commended for it.
That’s cool. It’s nice to see him go out of his way to do something nice like that for these people. It’s doubly nice that he didn’t use it as some cynical self-aggrandising press opportunity. I mean, I’m sure he knew it’d get out, but it’s obvious he was there for the people, not the press or himself.
Random fact: I attended the same school as Mr. Bale (though sometime after he did).
