Due to the recent shootings in Aurora, Colorado, DC Comics issued a letter to retailers telling them to hold off selling Batman Inc. #3.
Out of respect for the victims and families in Aurora, Colorado DC Entertainment has made the decision to postpone the release of BATMAN INCORPORATED #3 for one month because the comic contains content that may be perceived as insensitive in light of recent events. We request that retailers do not make this issue available as previously solicited.
The book has been moved to August 22, 2012, but considering many stores may already have the book in hand, it will be interesting to see if the issue will escape into the wild.

You know, I didn’t even think about this. But yeah, depending on the subject matter I can see them delaying this. It’s a good call on their part I think.
This sucks, but I think it’s okay, we do have to think of the victims of this horrible thing, so kudos to DC.
Not knowing what’s in the delayed issue, I’m only talking out of my arse here, but it seems to me that unless the comic showed a theater shooting, it’s just a ploy on the part of DC. Let’s face it, thousands of people a day are the victims of violent crime, yet DC doesn’t stop putting out books with violent crimes in them. Does it take a mass killing before the publishers discover they have a conscience? I’ve lost a parent to cancer. The fact that I waited years to read “I Kill Giants” doesn’t lessen the impact the story had on me, but then again, it wasn’t the publisher’s job to spare my sensitive feelings.
Directly from the twitter feed of Chris Burnham, artist on Batman Inc.:
“It’s not just a Batman comic with guns in it. There’s a specific scene that made DC & the whole Bat-team say “Yikes.” Too close for comfort.”

I don’t think it’s a case of “sparing feelings”. I think it’s more a case of saying “Even though we had this already in the plot it’s too close to a recent incident and folks will think we’ve sensationalized that incident.” Lord knows CNN, Fox and MSNBC have already done that enough.
