Press Release
Endeavor Bros and Monkube today previewed their newest mobile game The Adventures of Retrobot at Comic-Con International: San Diego. A fusion of game and comic, The Adventures of Retrobot for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch pushes the boundaries of interactive graphic novel style stories intertwined with pick up and play gamer action. The game is set to hit the App Store mid-July and original digital and print comic series are planned to be available soon.
The Adventures of Retrobot game offers intense tank shooter action, epic boss battles and is supercharged with a story about a DIY robot built as a gaming buddy who’s out to save his maker from the evil robots who’ve taken over the world. The tale is brought to life through The Active Reader technology, which allows for interactive and “active” comic story panels. Adding in a bit of slapstick video game humor, Retrobot and sidekick Toto’s tale is filled with events that’ll remind any gamer of their fondest gaming moments.
“The Adventures of Retrobot is the perfect balance of interactive graphic novel content and addictive gameplay that we believe comic and mobile gaming fans are going to love,” said Adam Heat, Co-Founder of Endeavor Bros. “Our partner Monkube’s success with 6th Planet and mutual interest and expertise in the fields of comics and games was critical in fusing these two genres together.”
“When Endeavor Bros came to us with the offer to team up and build the ultimate tank shooter, we immediately saw the unique opportunity to find closure on our long career as video game journalists,” said Sven Van de Perre of Monkube. “The Adventures of Retrobot was born, and so was it’s long string of classic video game jokes. Our way to honor the milestone franchises that we enjoyed as life long gamers.”
“We’re looking forward to the audiences’ reaction, as Endeavor Bros is eager to join Monkube in making game/comic hybrid software our cornerstone,” said Jon Clifford, Co-Founder of Endeavor Bros. “Together, we hope to establish this unique sub-genre as a permanent addition to the rich world that is video games.”
To go beyond the call of duty, Endeavor Bros and Monkube brought together an all-star cast, including:
• Comic book publisher Ape Entertainment, developers of the massively popular Pocket God Comics featuring work from artist Carlos Valenti and Cut the Rope Comics apps.
• Romania-based Newrosoft, former Gameloft Producer involved with N.O.V.A.
• Animated comic book technology forerunners Tall Chair, who just recently pioneered their The Active Reader technology with Disney Pixar’s animated Brave (R) comic, offered to animate the The Adventures of Retrobot story in-house.
• Maurits ‘Mo’ Goossens, part of Monkube’s in-house music team, composed the massive classical score that drives both game and story. As 1st violin and former conductor of the Brussels Philharmonic orchestra, he worked on several motion pictures scores, including Golden Globe-winning picture “The Aviator” (Martin Scorcese) and 2012 Oscar winner “The Artist” (Michel Hazanavicius).
To celebrate the upcoming launch of The Adventures of Retrobot, Endeavor Bros is giving away an iPad or $500 Amazon gift card. Details can be found at www.Facebook.com/EndeavorBros or at www.EndeavorBros.com. In addition, the creators will be at San Diego Comic Con at the Ape Entertainment booth ( #1804) from 5:30-6:30pm on Thursday July 12th 2012 and Saturday July 14th 2012. Come by and say hello!
