As disappointed I am Valve didn’t reveal the Pyro’s true nature under the mask, it’s probably for the best. Anything they come up would disappoint everyone else, so keeping it a secret means it could be any of the theories. Though we know for sure that the Pyro isn’t…exactly right in the head.
My 3 year old nephew was watching when i turned on the video and he started laughing his head off as soon as everything started burning.
Personally, I loved the final ‘Meet the Team’ short. I was expecting a more narrative approach, akin to ‘Meet the Medic’ and ‘Meet the Spy’, but ‘Meet the Pyro’ was satisfying nonetheless. It was similar in style to the other shorts, while being very unique and giving a peek into the personality of the most mysterious class in Team Fortress.
More exciting for me, however, is the announce of the Source Filmmaker. It’s certainly no professional editing tool set, but it opens grand new possibilities with animation and production on an amateur level. I’ve already begun writing the first short the I plan to make using the Source Filmmaker, which will also be my first serious work. Inspired by silent films and French noir, it will be based on the Team Fortress 2 classes while having a story of my own design. I’ll try to keep things about it updated on my blog, if anyone is interested in helping with some aspect of production and constructively criticizing my work.
Anyway, I’m a huge Team Fortress 2 fan, and the completion of the ‘Meet the Team’ videos means that Valve can produce even more amazing content.
In addition, anyone who plays Team Fortress and wants to team up can find me on Steam at http://steamcommunity.com/id/rulerofeden
This video is only half the story – the other half is the new inclusion of optical masking technology. Please follow this link to discover the true joys of augmented reality: .
You will find that there is a new skin available for TF2, a voluntary alteration to the game that will transform the entire experience into the experience demonstrated in the meet the pyro video. I haven’t tried it yet, but I like the direction presented: Imagine the entire game different for every player, but with every player still interacting. I could play in a fantasy world while competing with a friend playing in a steam-punk or a WWI motif.
