If you love books, you may hate Guy Laramee. If you love art, you may love Guy Laramee.  If you love both, you may be conflicted when you see what Guy Laramee dos to books – he carves them.

I think these are some amazing works of art.  If the books aren’t going to be doing anything but sitting around gathering mold and dust, or if they are bound for the junkyard, then Laramee is doing these books a great honor by giving them new life as sculpture.

The detail in these works is amazing, and each time I look at them I’m whisked away to far away places, and marvel at what can be found inside a book.

I would love to have some of these sitting on my bookshelf.

That is really cool stuff…as long as he isn’t using rare books then I think it is great.

On his website he states he uses old encyclopedias. These are beautiful pieces of art!
