A long time ago, in a galaxy… Wait, no. That’s the other guys. Back in the 1990s, I have many fond memories of Star Trek: The Next Generation, many of them involving watching chunks of the show while working at the campus television station. (Don’t tell Stephen!) This morning, some 20-odd years later, Scott Johnson asked what was up with the number 47, which pops up in EVERY SINGLE EPISODE of TNG. As someone who likes to sneak Easter Eggs into my Major Spoilers work, Critical Hit and the MSP, I was happy to find that people are still analyzing these things today…
The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) wants you to do a barrel roll, asking: What is your favorite hidden content (“Easter Egg”) in pop culture?

C-3PO and R2-D2 showing up in Raiders of the Lost Ark. Look carefully at the hieroglyphs on the wall in the Well of the Souls. Gives a lot more credence to that Dark Horse Star Wars/Raiders crossover story…
The Superman references in, I believe, every episode of Seinfeld.
It’s actually the Konami code, in the Silent Hil movie which I liked a lot, at one point the main protagonist is trying to get out of a hospital and looks at the map.
The path she has to take? up, down, up, down, left, right, left, right no one else seemed to have caught that and people looked at me funny for laughing in the middle of a tense scene.
Yes, I do realise I managed to screw up the Konami code with the dang thing in the thread title…
The Alien head in Predators 2.
Easy. The Atari 2600 Adventure easter egg.

In regards to that, a recent book called “Ready Player One” is set in the near future with the whole world caught up in a search for an Easter Egg in the most popular game ever made that is directly inspired by the Adventure easter egg. When the book was released in paperback, the author announced that there was an easter egg in the book and whoever found it and solved the puzzle first would win a Delorean. . . Needless to say I’ve been scouring my copy of the book for it.
Another much less fun, but still very interesting easter egg is the numbers in the background of the “How I Met Your Mother” episode Bad News.
I heard about the book the other day, and already have it on order from the Amazon.com link right there in the right column. ;)
Actually I like the tardis showing up in the original fallout video game.
My favorite is actually the original video game Easter egg from Adventure
Tom Servo’s Used Robots is one of the shops on the promenade in Deep Space Nine.
No way. Is there any episode where it’s easily noticeable?
It seems to be mentioned in Wikipedia, at least, but it says it was on the directory list and may not have been visible on any TV appearances. I was actually trying to find the name of the stories he was in in Star Wars comics for my own list (while it lists the “Troops” fanfilm, it doesn’t list any of the comics).

The countdown numbers in the How I Met Your Mother episode, “Bad News”.
I like the silver age Flash cameo in Marvel’s Quasar book from the 90s.
I’d have to go with the Pixar cameos, mostly because there always for the next movie. That and the Pizza Planet truck from Toy Story being in most, if not all of the Pixar films.
Really wondering how they are going to throw the truck into Brave.
Pizza Planet cart? Or one of those situations where just the right angle makes things appear to be something else? If they really want it in there, they’d find a clever way to do it.
Tom Servo and Crow T. Robot appearing in at least two Star Wars comics, including an appearance with Gypsy in Dex’s Diner in one of the “Tag and Bink” comics and apparently with Bender of Futurama in “Skippy, The Jedi Droid”.
Also Star Wars related was the inclusion of E.T.’s race in the senate chamber in “The Phantom Menace” as well as appearing again in the novel “Cloak of Deception” with Senator Grebleips.
Not really an easter egg, but a toy of Serpentera/Daijinryuu was in the Doctor Who episode “Night Terrors”.
Ilda, Star Hawkins’ robot secretary from MYSTERY IN SPACE on an episode of FUTURAMA. Or the teddy bear jettisoned out the Babylon 5 airlock and found on SPACE CASES.
