Disney is currently in negotiations with Joe and Anthony Russo, the executive producers of NBC’s Community to direct the sequel to Captain America: The First Avenger.

According to Variety, neither side will make any comment to the state of negotiations which is expected during the “just talking” stage, but if the duo do take on the directing role, it might make for an interesting change in story tone and note.

What is more interesting is that Joe Johnston isn’t back in the director’s chair, as the first movie was decent enough and grossed $368 million world wide last year.

Captain America 2 is scheduled to arrive April 04, 2014.

Hmm…that isn’t terribly encouraging. Johnston did a great job on the first one, and I was really looking forward to his second offering. I don’t know these two fellows, but their cited credentials don’t exactly fill me with faith. Marvel hasn’t made a misstep yet, so I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt, but I am really looking forward to Captain America 2. I hope they’ll do it justice.
