One would have thought the success of Cars would have lead to more racing movies sooner rather than later, but Electronic Arts is hoping to capitalize on the new interest in racing by bringing Need for Speed to the big screen.

Studios are still bidding on the movie franchise, but according to Variety, Paramount is the current frontrunner.  John Gatins and EA are producing the project, and since it is still being shopped around, no director, or actors have been attached to the project.
