As the first major arc of the Justice League comes to a close, and DC gets ready to launch the next big story, the company has released two variant covers for Justice League #6 and Justice League #7.

Ivan Reis illustrates the cover to Justice League #6, that puts Darkseid front and center.

The issue arrives in stores on February 29, 2012.

DC asked Gary Frank to create the variant for Justice League #7, which features the Shazam! backup story.

“It was great to get the chance to do all of the redesigned team members together,” Frank exclusively told THE SOURCE. “I noticed how it was generally Superman or Batman at the center of this kind of ensemble shot, so I thought I’d give the girls the spotlight this time by putting Wonder Woman in the heart of things.”

    • It does, and it reminds me of that “Superman is a D!ck” website that I’m relatively sure still exists… I’m too lazy to google for it right now, though.

  1. Frank’s cover is cool, but I’m going to nitpick. The ground near Wonder Woman’s feet would be a tripping hazard and awkward to stand on unevenly like that… she’s just barely not stepping on Batman’s cape. Frank probably should have composed the shot so that Batman was in the foreground in front of Wonder Woman to avoid any issues with the cape or feet and Batman’s potential eyeline.

Sure, it’s fine since we can only see the whites of his eyes, but the Batman is crouching right behind a gorgeous Amazon in high cut hotpants…. that’s so creepy!

Bruce Wayne is smiling. Batman does NOT smile.

=This= is why Batman is smiling~!

    • I think they did a pretty good job of explaining why Martian Manhunter wasn’t in the Justice League yet. They explained it in issue 6 of Stormwatch I believe.

  2. Good cover!
Only thing missing is the Martian Manhunter.
(If he does come back… not the Gumby version PLEASE!)
Cyborg does not belong in this group.
He is a great character… but, he belongs with “The Titans”.
    (Not Teen!)
Why does almost every artist put Superman and Wonder Woman next to each other in every group shot?

  3. Nope. Still hate the NuDCU and the Nehru jacket cosutmes and the needless character assassination (Diana, Daughter of Zeus puh-lease, Kryptonian battle armor wha-???) more than words can say.

    Ain’t buying it.

    Ain’t reading it.
