Sketch covers are an interesting breed of variant cover.  Sometimes you get a limited run sketch cover that is simply a print of the original work.  Other times the cover is an actual sketch on a blank cover done by one artist and auctioned off or sold for a high price.  More often than not, I see sketch covers that don’t live up to the hype, which is why I’m happy to show off this cover by Mike Mayhew that is simply stunning.

The thing that draws me in the most isn’t the pose or the torso, but the eyes.

Mayhew is a great artist. I don’t see his work enough in comics.
