Most of the Toy Fair solicitations we received prior to the big show had redacted any mention of the big bad beyond Loki making an appearance.  However, at the show, MTV Geek spotted an Avengers board game that may give up the big secret.

There are a couple of things to note about this; first Kevin Feige stated a while ago that the Skrulls wouldn’t appear in the film – that doesn’t mean the Chitauri couldn’t appear.  Second, this is a board game, not necessarily based on the movie, so swapping in other villains could just part of getting kids and their families into the Marvel universe with an army of space invaders.

So, are will still all agreed that these are the Chitauri?

Sure looks that way to me. Chitauri, Skrull, same thing.

I hope they have wrinkly chins either way.

Other sites discussed how these villains look like Loki’s frost giant buddies (the little ones) and that the entrance to NYC via the Empire State Building coincides with the Casket of Ancient Winters/Dark Elf invasion from the Simonson era.
