Here’s an interesting piece by artist George Perez, that isn’t part of a comic book, but rather packaging for a mechanical pencil.

A company called Stylus Fine Pens+ in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada asked me to produce a piece of art for their new Illustrator Series of Mechanical pencils. I was quite flattered by this and just received permission to show the art and prototype on my Facebook Page. For more info you can contact them at

This is how the package will be displayed. A brief bio of yours truly will also be included. I must say, it’s quite flattering to be asked to endorse a new product.

This is the original piece of art I drew. I tried to find something that wasn’t the typical superhero fare and was inspired by the badge I drew for Dragon*Con last year.

Does anyone else think that Perez’s faces look like he’s been influenced by Jerry Ordway? They’re rounder than they were when he first broke big. Or has his method of contouring changed since his days on the Avengers and the Justice League?

The face of the guy definitely has that feel.
