You have to wade through a lot of crap to find the real gems on YouTube, and it looks like we’ve found another in the form of a short sci-fi film Archetype by Aaron Sims.

RL7 is an eight-foot tall combat robot that goes on the run after malfunctioning with vivid memories of once being human. As its creators and the military close in, RL7 battles its way to uncovering the shocking truth behind its mysterious visions and past.

Directed by Aaron Sims
starring Robert Joy (Land of the Dead, CSI:NY) and David Anders (Heros, 24).

Thanks for all the positive feedback everyone! This has been a labor of love on a budget of $0 with personal expense on my part and no funding. It makes it all worth while when we see other poeple responding to it. Thank you! – Aaron Sims

  1. Yeah, let me echo the other posters, that was fantastic, and I am quite intrigued. I’d definitely say seeing what happens would be worth the price of admission at a theater!

  2. Not bad but this pretty much is Robocop fellas. Same exact story of a robot with a human brain remembering his past. It would be cooler if these guys would use their efx skills and hire a writer to give them a more original idea to create.

  3. Bill the Seeker on

Yes, we have seen this basic premise before but there are a LOT of very good movies that use the same basic premise and turn it into a good movie anyway. I’d love for these guys to have a chance to turn this into a movie. If it lived up to this trailer it would be swimming in awesome sauce.
