Press Release

Vivid Entertainment’s “Spider-Man XXX:  A Porn Parody” was a clear favorite among the judges in the all-important parody category at the 2012 AVN Awards for the top adult movies of the year.

Adult Video News judges gave top honors to the movie in the Best Parody, Best Parody Drama, Best Cinematography categories and its director Axel Braun won the Director of the Year (Body of Work) award for the second year in a row.

“We’re all thrilled with this recognition from AVN” said Vivid vice president and head of production Marci Hirsch. “Sales have been incredible and feedback from comic and adult movie fans have been telling us we had a winner. These honors are the reward for pulling together as a team to produce what we believe will be an adult parody classic.”

“Spider-Man XXX” stars Vivid Girl Capri Anderson (of Charlie Sheen’s hotel escapade fame) as Mary-Jane and XRCO Best New Stud Xander Corvus in the title role.

Continuing in the studio’s tradition of releasing exciting mainstream celebrity movies, “Backdoor to Chyna” was recognized with the Best Celebrity Sex Tape award. The movie, starring former pro-wrestling champion Chyna, became a runaway success when it was released last year.

Vivid also won the Best Pro-Am Series category with its popular “Brand New Faces” series directed by B. Skow as well as other awards.

To cap off an exciting evening for the studio, Vivid’s founder and co-chairman Steven Hirsch was recognized with AVN’s first Visionary Award for his extraordinary achievements in the industry and for “single-handedly moving adult entertainment into the mainstream,” according to AVN founder Paul Fishbein.

Always enthusiastic about his next production, Braun commented “We were all tickled just to be working on the Spider-Man XXX parody but now we can’t wait for fans to see “Star Wars XXX: A Porn Parody,” which will be out shortly. We think it will blow everything away!”
