Right after we learned Peter Weller had joined the Star Trek 2 movie, and got a definite denial that Benicio Del Toro wouldn’t be playing Kahn, today we learn Del Toro isn’t even going to be in the movie.

According to Vulture, talks broke down last Wednesday after Del Toro and Paramount failed to reach a deal.  This is probably why Weller was brought in so quickly.  The website went on to confirm that Kahn is still the villain in the new movie, which means Weller might be the high profile character that Ricardo Montalban made famous.

Does this make sense to you, or is Paramount and J.J. Abrams keeping something even bigger under wraps to amaze and dazzle audiences come 2013?
