According to the Hollywood Reporter, the SyFy channel has picked up the rights to Booster Gold and is planning to bring it to the small screen as a live action show.

The story will center on Booster Gold, a washed-up athlete from the future who travels back to the present in hopes of becoming the greatest super hero of all time. Instead of chasing criminals, however, his main priority is chasing fame and money. But Booster Gold discovers that being a hero takes more than just a megawatt smile, and that the future doesn’t happen without first protecting the present.

Fringe’s Andrew Kreisberg has been hired to write the pilot, with Greg Berlanti producing under the Warner Horizon Television banner.  Both collaborated on Eli Stone for ABC and have worked on Warehouse 13 and Red Faction: Origins.

This might actually be pretty good, considering Syfy has made some decent series in recent years. Keeping them on the air, not so much, but the shows have been pretty decent otherwise.

This sounds promising, hopefully they can pull off the mix of camp/seriousness. I vote for Captain Awesome from Chuck to be Booster!

I just hope they get around to the Johns run, where he actually IS saving the universe daily, but still has to pretend to be a d-bag.

This needs to happen. Beetle could fly the chopper. Skeets could be Higgins and we go all Magnum P.I. with this biotch.

Don’t worry, you won’t be able to recognize him when they are done with him. I watched Smallville and caught a glimpse of some major DC heroes that had been watered down to wet toast. And, I’m sure that “Ted Cord” will show up eventually. And, we will all hang our heads in shame. Just speaking from experience. “Birds of Prey” anyone!?!

I would love a Booster Gold show (if SYFY can get an actor that can act and the special effects doesn’t suck) as long as Ted “Blue Beetle” Kord and Skeets gets into the show as well and don’t forget Kilowog !

There better be a long string of guest stars of DC Comic characters like Captain Marvel, Guy Gardner, Fire, Ice, Power Girl, etc. (From their JLI days) as well as some JLA/JSA members dropping by every once in a while.

If the writers need plot or storylines, try the 1st Booster Gold comic series that ran in the ’80s and the second recent series that unfortunatly ended it’s run after Flashpoint plot (Idiots !).
